Jay Gormley

Dr Jay Gormley is a Senior Lecturer in Law and Criminal Justice at the University of Glasgow. He is a member of the Scottish Sentencing Council and an adviser to the Sentencing Academy, an organisation dedicated to developing expert understanding of sentencing and informing public debate. 

He is an experienced empirical researcher and has worked with a wide range of criminal justice stakeholders. He has a strong interest in the effectiveness of sentencing.
